It didn’t take Lock Poker long at all to establish themselves as a brand to be reckoned with. After opening in 2011, Lock rapidly grew in size thanks to their US-friendly status and some unparalleled bonus deals, including a rakeback offer that exceeded 100% in certain cases. Eventually, Lock and its network at the time, Merge Gaming, didn’t see eye to eye over these promotions. And this matter reached a boiling point in 2012, when Merge cancelled a $2 million tournament series called LockOPS.

So Lock did what any fast-growing, upstart poker operation would do and left Merge to start their own network. The site allegedly purchased the Cake Poker Network (though some say it’s merely a partnership) and unveiled the Revolution Gaming Network. It’s been a bumpy ride for Revolution Gaming in recent times, mainly due to very slow withdrawals. Nevertheless, they continue to be one of the largest US-facing networks in the industry.

Software and Graphics

After leaving Merge and aligning with the Cake Network, Lock Poker’s software took on the image of their new acquisition. Anybody who played at Cake sites prior to 2012 will quickly notice the cartoon-like, but crisp graphics that defined this network for years. Most of the features at Lock are pretty standard, including multi-tabling, resizable tables, lobby buttons for quickly finding games/tournaments, and a bet sizing bar.

Lock Poker Signup Bonus

One attractive point to playing at Lock is that their signup bonus is very large. New players can get a 200% up to $4,000 bonus for creating an account and making a deposit here. To unlock the bonus, you must earn 16.8 FPPs for every $1 of the reward. In cash games, you get an FPP for every $1 raked from the pot, regardless of whether you contributed anything or not. Tournament rake is more generous since you receive 7 FPPs for every $1 paid. Do note that you have 90 days to earn as much of the bonus as you can before it expires.

Lock Poker Promotions

Since moving off the Merge Gaming Network, Lock Poker promotions have waned somewhat. However, you can still expect a few solid promos here and there such as “Gladiators,” the Lock Lotto and leaderboard races. In regard to Gladiators, this sees players compete to earn a set amount of prizes at each level. For example, there’ll be 200 prizes worth $2, another 150 prizes worth $4, another 100 prizes worth $8, and so on. Since there are only a limited number of prizes available at each level, players need to work fast to earn them.

The Lock Lotto offers 3 prizes every day, and the rewards that you’re eligible to win are based on VIP points earned. Also keep in mind that Lock features a strong stable of professional players that sometimes compete in promos, including Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, Annette Obrestad, Melanie Weisner, Eric “Rizen” Lynch and Brett Jungblut.

Lock Poker Game Selection

While Lock’s game selection won’t compete with the largest poker sites in the industry, they’re pretty good for a US-friendly room. Lock features Texas Hold’em, Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo games, much like many other US-facing site. But what separates them is the large number of available stakes in these different variations. Whether you’re looking for Limit Hold’em or No-Limit Omaha, there are plenty of tables running across a variety of limits.

The Lock Poker tournament lineup is pretty impressive since it features a wide variety of both low and high buy-in events. The Sunday $100k GTD PRO ELITE Bounty Edition immediately sticks out, while, later on in the night, a $70k GTD PRO ELITE Bounty Edition also runs.

Lock Poker Payouts

Unfortunately, Lock has taken a hit in recent times over their inability to process cashouts in a timely and effective manner. While we hope that this changes in the near future, the problem hasn’t gone away yet. Some US players are waiting well over 5 months for a check to arrive.

Reputation

In the beginning, Lock Poker maintained a pretty good reputation and serviced their players in an efficient and timely manner. But lately, everything has gone downhill due to the cashout issues, and this has many people bashing Lock. The company has stated that they’re working hard to fix the cashout issue, and we can only hope that this happens sooner rather than later.
