Prior to last night, poker pro Jesse Martin had cashed in 30 WSOP events, but failed to turn any of these finishes into bracelet wins. However, he turned his 31st cash into a major victory at the 2013 WSOP.

Martin beat out an elite 87-player field to win the Event #43 $10,000 2-7 Single Draw Championship along with $253,524. This is the second biggest cash of Martin's career and it came against a stacked tournament field.

Players who made the final table included two-time bracelet winner John Hennigan, six-time bracelet winner Layne Flack, online poker guru Jon "Pearljammer" Turner, five-time bracelet winner Jeff Lisandro and two-time bracelet winner David "Bakes" Baker. Konstantin Puchkov, who set the single-year WSOP cashes record last year with 11, also joined these players at the final table. Basically, there were no soft spots to be found here.

Despite all of these fine poker pros challenging Jesse Martin, he was able to pull out the win and grab his first gold bracelet. The Schrewsbury, Massachusetts native now has $1,087,099 in live tournament cashes and the prestige that comes with being a WSOP champion.

One interesting side note to this tourney is that the runner-up, Baker, made his fourth final table of the 2013 WSOP. So far, Baker is the only player to do so this year. If he's able to continue this kind of play, he could be eyeing the 2013 WSOP Player of the Year award.
