2012 has not exactly been the best year for poker pro Jason Mercier. Despite earning $282,280 from live tournaments, Mercier has complained about being in the hole due to travel costs and buy-ins. He tweeted about this with the following:
Really over the ridiculous losses, beats, and #justbadluck that I have experienced at every single point in this wonderful year of 2012..I am very fortunate to be where I am today in poker..This I know. However, this year has been unbearable. Almost any pro poker player..Would be completely broke if they ran like I have run this year.
Perhaps things may be turning around for Mercier because he recently notched a huge victory in the 2012 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP). The star won the $10,300 WCOOP 8-Game High Roller after he beat out a 93-player field to earn $253,425.
With the victory, Mercier now has $1,559,648 in online poker tournament winnings and $7,869,650 in live tourneys. Following the 8-Game High Roller win, Mercier plans on flying to the WSOPE as he tweeted:
Id like to go to sleep, however, I have a flight to Cannes in 3 hours. Gotta pack and head to airport. Wsope plo 5k event at 5 pm #neverstop..First tourney win of 2012… Why stop now?
Another notable player who fared well in this tournament included Daniel "KidPoker" Negreanu. The Canadian grinder finished in third place and collected $130,200. Below you can see more players who did well in this tourney.
